Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist and musician. She was the youngest and first female to win an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to play live and to serve as a presenter at the awards ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is one of the Indian young sitar singer. She is a student as well as child of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982 and spent her early years shuttling to London as well as New Delhi. When she was only 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, nevertheless, she has an impressive career in singing and recording. She has been accompanying her father on stage for many years. The singer has released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is extensive for she has appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond the realm of music. Bapi The Love of My Life is a illustrated biographical work she penned in 2002. It pays special tributes to her father, who passed away in 2002. Ravi Shankar. Also, in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays a young Bharat Natyam performer. Her career continues to grow and she will continue to do many great things in the future. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early years between London, Delhi and California. When she was 9 She began studying the piano with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi in the year following. The father of Anoushka travelled the globe with her, and she gained many experience. While still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was awarded to her from the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and is the smallest recipient of the prize.
